The Pantross are panther-like predators that skulk in the shadows of the deep interior. Pantross are giant cats, the size of a man, with powerful, sinewy bodies and sharp claws. Extremely quick and deadly, the Pantross sport a brown-and-black stippling that makes it nearly invisible against the backdrop of trees and shadow.
Pantross are as fearless and singleminded as they are deadly. Once engaged in pursuit, they will stop at nothing until they take down their prey. Their retractable claws have evolved to enable them to easily scale trees, and their limber bodies allow them to squeeze into places many creatures can’t get into, so there are precious few places in the interior which are safe from them.
When fired up, their bodies become flush with the energy and bestial power that is their nature. If a Pantross is slain in the heat of battle, the meat, if eaten within a day or so, can transfer some of that energy and bestial power to its consumer. (In game terms, the consumer gains an action point she can use in the next combat which doesn’t count against the limit of one action point used per encounter. If the action point is not used within a few hours, it is lost.)
